After hundreds of meetings, hours of careful consideration, and lots of soul searching, I have decided to lend my support to the historic opportunity that confronts us today. Although I continue to have serious concerns with pieces of the health care reform package, I have decided that being at the table will more effectively advance the interests of the people of Maine than by standing on the sidelines. I will support the bill before the House today because this process must move forward.

My folks were nearly sure I'd be with a Black girl, when I was in Jr. High...all the school and Y dances I was with the Black group in my class. My next older brother(3 yrs. my senior) was a good dancer, and he and his girlfriend went to the earliest racially mixed dance clubs. So at eleven or twelve I was enjoying Sam and Dave, while my friends at school were listening to Snoopy the Red Barron.

We are sending this to all of our friends who have managed to stay married to date. Since fewer and fewer couples remain married for a long time, we think we should congratulate ourselves.

Shouldn't the fact that so many marriages end in divorce enter in to the same sex marriage conversation much more prominently? If marriage is so damn sacred, why is divorce allowed, let alone second, third, fourth, etc. marriages. Just how do the mighty faithful reconcile divorce. How can they recognize a civil divorce from the religious viewpoint?

that those in the northern part of the state had to deal with active queer baiting on a daily basis like we have before and after the hate vote. These inciters would get on buses crowded with high school students and verbally bash you while encouraging the crowed to engage in the same behavior. They don't see it as an issue of self defense.

No I am not advocating violence but I don't like to be told that my reaction to constant harassment is unseemly. Especially since my verbal responses are less caustic and aggressive as the tripe that is thrown my way.

If we speak out about how hateful someone is being we can expose the hate driving the ballot initiatives.

I AM married.

Legally recognized worldwide- even though the ceremony was conducted in a restaurant by a phonebook JOP and both the bride and groom are atheists.

And the groom was previously married, for a matter of weeks.

My best friend has been married FOUR TIMES. Her collective exes have been married TEN times.

I had a concrete (testable) way to "prove" to my Mom and (especially) my Dad why their son needed to make such a drastic change. To make it easier for them to understand. After a certain point we realize a "test" was not needed. I found out through a friend my Mom told her that after I started transition, it was like a light switch was turned on. I was so sad when I was living in the wrong role. Happy and bubbly now.

That was enough proof for both of us.

that Holder, who as AG has ultimate responsibility in the DOJ for the "hate brief" defending DOMA, and who just recently claimed not to know that gay marriage was up for a vote in Maine, will give these creeps a pass, no matter what they say or do. After all, his boss has assured him that God's in the mix.
